Amy Witherite Highlights Safety Concerns as Aurora Delays Driverless Semi-Truck Launch
Aurora Innovation has postponed the launch of its driverless semi-trucks in Texas, originally set for late 2024, to April 2025. The company cited the need for additional testing to ensure safety and reliability. For years, Texas highways like I-45 and I-20 have seen autonomous trucks on the road, but always with a human driver present as a safeguard. Amy Witherite, founder of Witherite Law Group, supports the delay, emphasizing the need for cautious implementation to prevent accidents involving 18-wheelers. Witherite has also called for stronger oversight from federal and state agencies to ensure public safety as autonomous technology advances.
